SURFINK

1964 saw the release of this cool little guy !  Its Surfink.
Surfing was a big deal and was tied to the car scene in the early years.. Customized woodies were the vehicles of choice for surfers, and many surfers wore the chrome german helmets popularized by Roth in the early 60's.
This is one of the more sought after finks as it is popular with surfers, skateboarders and monster collectors.
Surfink even comes with a scale crab to attach to the toe of the surfer
Surfink was first released in 1964 and finally re-released in 1990. .The only obvious change is the box art for the release in 1990

ANGEL FINK

Here is the only female fink ever produced in plastic... Angel Fink.
The original was released in 1964. Angel Fink is sort of the Betty Crocker of the Fink family. It is her job to mix the nitro for all those Roth vehicles. The kit comes complete with the nitro tub, stirring rod, and a hip snake !  ( dont ask me ! ---I dunno )
In Mexico, Angel Fink was released as "Agata"
The kit was re-released in 1997, in a box thats about 2 inches longer than the original. Revell just stretched the original artwork making Big Daddy look like a hunchback., but then I'm sure that Ed would think that was kinda cool and finky!
SUPERFINK

This is Superfink. The model was released in 1964.
Of course superfink is a take off on "Superman". This kit is one of my favorites. The gas powered surfboard is neat, and the fink himself has tons of personality !!
The box is my favorite box art of all Roth's cars and finks..It shows Ed as a mild mannered reporter, and his Lois Lane counterpart is dressed in the style if the day... A Jackie Kennedy outfit replete with pillbox hat... Metropolis is in the background....
THIS is one that should be re-issued !!  Skateboarders love him as much as bikers like Brother Rat Fink and real surfers like Surfink.  It appeals to a dual market.
Its a bit of a tough kit to find, but he pops up at auction now and again.... Get your wallet out, though.!!..

MR GASSER IN A BRM

Now for all you slot car fans ,another little gem
known as Mr Gasser ...in a BRM
You wont have to paint the car in color thick or thin.
cause with this slot car racer the color's molded in !

And for you hard core model guys who really must know more
Mr Gasser was released in 1964.
You wont see him re-released , though you look far and wide
cause sometime in the seventies slot car racing died.

Dr Seuss is dead and gone : you think I'd send a rose !
Instead I had to go and write this awful gasser prose.

SURFINK
ANGEL FINK
Heres a bit of a rare one. In the mid 60's, Slot car racing was all the rage. Most cities had commercial tracks, and as a young adolescent you could misspend a lot of time , youth and money there. (For the record I'm still a slot car freak and am in the throes of building a  4 lane track in the large room above my shop.)
With both Rat Fink and Slot Racing being immensly popular, what could be better than combining them?
In 64, Revell released Finky slot cars. This one is Mr. Rat Fink in Lotus Ford. Its a cool pice of 60's memorabilia. and is highly sought after by both slot car and Fink collectors. ( I'm afflicted with both)...
It is not, and never was a racing contender, But when you pull him out of the case and set him on the track, you can gain a few laps while the other racers are picking their jaws up off the floor !!!
